Dear Friends,
McClelland & Stewart takes great pride in the worldwide prominence of many of the authors it originates: Margaret Atwood, Alistair MacLeod, Rohinton Mistry, Anne Michaels, Michael Ondaatje, and others. Our authors have garnered international critical acclaim from many sources, including the judging panels of the most prestigious literary prizes throughout the world. Known for the excellence of its literary fiction and non-fiction, our publishing program celebrates themes and topics of universal appeal through a uniquely Canadian voice.
As you may know, 2006 marked the 100th anniversary of McClelland & Stewart. We saw McClelland & Stewart honoured with the issue of a Canadian postage stamp, while we published special hardcover editions of some of our most beloved titles, held charitable events to raise money for literacy initiatives and PEN Canada, and hosted our colleagues and friends at wonderful gatherings in Toronto, New York, and Frankfurt to celebrate our accomplishments and give thanks to our writers and supporters.
We have a superb list of new titles - both fiction and non-fiction - for which we're offering rights. I look forward to corresponding with you (and to seeing you at the fairs!) to let you know more about them in the months to come. In the rights section of our web site, you'll find some of our recent sales, our current rights catalogue, a list of our agents, and information on how to apply for permission to reprint excerpts from our books.
Many thanks for your interest in McClelland & Stewart titles.
My best wishes to you,
Marilyn Biderman, Vice President
